Hey tribe! I’ve been thinking about the feeling I get after a creative conversation with a colleague. It’s something along the lines of divinely inspired and, “oh shit, I’ve got a lot of work to do!”
If there’s one thing that we need more of in education (and life), it’s collaboration. I’ve worked in districts that carved out team meetings daily and places that never did. I’ve also worked in teams that ask each other for help, and those that would never admit they don’t have the answer. In my own classroom, we make time to collaborate with each other. It’s most likely on the fly, if I’m honest! :)
Anyways, we try to work through problems in order to find multifaceted solutions. It’s important to have ALL stakeholders involved in collaboration meetings; including certified and non-certified staff. There’s a wealth of knowledge walking in and out of our classrooms (even our digital ones!) that goes untapped.
When we allow ourselves to admit we don’t know something...
When we ask for help…
When we engage in purposeful conversation…
We lift each other up and support students in creative ways. I truly believe the antidote to burnout is engagement. It’s intentionality and creativity, folks! The more we can incorporate these into our daily practice, the more inspired we feel.
I want to show up for you in this way. I want to create a place for the important conversations you are already having, and for those of you who are looking for a place to have them. This is where Office Hours come in. I’ll be opening up a space for us to get together and chat about all the things.
